Autumn Term at Truro College

Green Futures : Careers Workshop poster

It has been wonderful for us to engage with over 250 young people at Truro College this autumn term.

The school year began with 2 days of badge making at the freshers’ fairs, and on a following lunchtime outreach workshop. It was lovely to see the students expressing their identities and priorities through the beautiful badges they created.

In October, we ran a workshop with 13 ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students which involved exploring their strengths, expressing their identities through art, and getting to know each other better through active listening.

During a Greener Futures workshop with 45 IB (International Baccalaureate) students, the group explored their relationships with nature as well as the idea of using collective power to act for climate justice.

In November, we ran 2 Greener Futures Careers Workshops, reaching 54 young people studying a range of subjects including A-Levels, Hair and Beauty, and Engineering. Participants discussed how you can make all careers sustainable, and explored which career options would work towards the Sustainable Development Goals that are most important to them.

We explored what it means to live and work in Cornwall with the Behind the Postcard Film, and watched inspiring videos from a range of people in sustainable careers across Cornwall.
