Training - Programmes for Children & Young People

Step Up

The Step Up programme supports children in Y5 or Y6 to understand key principles of Restorative Practice and develop their talking and listening skills for making things better.

Two of our trained facilitators work with a whole year group in small groups over 5 days.
Learning is focused around the 3 R’s of Restorative Practice; Respect, Responsibility and Relationships.
On the final day the children are supported to become Circle Keepers for the younger children in their school.
Skills developed during Step Up:
  • Growth in children’s emotional literacy to support with listening and understanding self and others
  • Skills for teamworking and peer relationship building
  • Exploring identity and celebrating difference
  • Discovery of personal strengths and self expression
  • Support for transition to secondary

Our 5 days together are captured in a printed booklet recording their unique learning experience. Their booklets and certificates are presented at a celebration event, with their peers as witnesses. This creates an opportunity for them to share and cascade their Restorative learning.
