Beyond The Labels – Summer Programme
The goal of Beyond The Labels is specifically to create space for young people to explore their own identities, learn about restorative practice and connect. The group provides a safe and inclusive space where young people can express themselves freely and authentically without fear of judgment.
During this summer, following feedback from our young people, we put together an exciting and engaging summer programme of active, creative and restorative activities. Our focus this summer was on giving back to the community through volunteering and collaboration with various organisations. The summer programme offered young people the opportunity to engage in a wide range of activities that they expressed an interest in exploring.
Subsequently, over the course of 8 weeks, we reached 16 new young people and worked with 6 new community Organisations including Mount’s Bay Marine Group, Queer Kernow and Bosavern Community Farm. We got creative making Cyanotype prints and creating Pink Plaques, got out in nature by rock pooling and gardening, and made lots of new friends and connections!
Feedback from our participants included:
“I really enjoyed getting out and about in the community this summer, it gave me something to look forward to every week.”
“I was a bit scared to come on my own to the group, but I had a really nice time and would like to come again”
“I’m not exaggerating beyond the labels has probably saved my life. I’ve made good relationships and had something to look forward to weekly and both directly and indirectly this group has improved my mental health so much.”
This project is funded by The People’s Health Trust.
