Cornwall’s first ever Youth Climate Action Festival
Youth-Led Climate Action Festival
RJ Working recently took an exciting step towards a greener future by hosting Cornwall’s first Climate Action Festival at Heartlands in Redruth. This inspiring event brought together four schools across Cornwall—Redruth School, Helston Community College, Mounts Bay Academy, and Hayle Academy—to empower the changemakers of today through their dedicated ‘ecogroups.’
The day began with small circles of students from different schools engaged in thoughtful discussions about feelings and actions towards climate change, where intimate exchanges helped foster new friendships, planting the seeds of collaborative action between schools.
Workshops hosted by the RJ Working YCAT team buzzed with creativity, as students participated activities like ivy weaving, solar light jar making, earth movement, letters to the earth and imagining a better future, all of which encouraged celebration of nature and sparked interesting discussions.
The highlight of the festival was the opportunity for each school to showcase their amazing and creative projects, highlighting the impact that young voices can make when united by a shared purpose.
RJ Working is proud to have played a role in bringing together these passionate and inspiring young people. We hope to host more events where diverse minds can come together to create change!
