Young people from our Beyond The Labels groups in Bodmin invited their North Cornwall MP, Ben Maguire to meet with them, and were delighted when he accepted the invitation. Our team have been delivering workshops throughout the year to students who wanted to take positive action on issues they felt passionate about. The 2 central themes of these workshops have been Environmental concerns and Identity and Belonging.

The young people were able to show with pride what work they had been doing on both projects through film and conversation and asked Ben pertinent and challenging questions on these topics. Many students will be continuing their contact with Ben to share their views and perhaps get into politics in the future!

Today’s meeting was a culmination of a year’s work with the young people, and we could not have been more impressed with how they conducted themselves and made their views know.

A huge well done to the young people who helped orchestrate such a fantastic day, and asked such thoughtful and important questions, engaging their MP in Restorative conversation. We now plan to work with the young people further, bringing a Youth Forum to Bodmin, creating more opportunities like this one, to have their voices heard by politicians, and to discuss issues that face their future.
