Green Ripple Effect programme
Establishing future nature protectors in Cornwall Primary Schools!
In the autumn, children at Wadebridge Primary Academy and Rosemellin Primary School had the chance to deepen their connection to Nature and each other over our 3-day Green Ripple Effect Programme.
Over the 3 days, the children explored questions like ‘what does having responsibility towards nature look like?’ and ‘how do you feel when you are in nature?’. These conversations were explored using circles and the talking piece to develop communication and listening skills amongst peer groups. The programme took place outside, where children got to put their ideas into practice, and work together to improve nature in their school. Some chose to create bug hotels to support bug life in their school, whilst other got their hands into the soil and planted flowers and herbs around the school grounds.
“We should look after nature because we ARE nature” and “Bugs are amazing, and you should not judge people. Save nature.” are amongst some of the notable quotes from the Year 5 children across both schools.
The children from Wadebridge primary also received Nature Ranger badges and a toolkit. They were so incredibly eager to each younger students to use restorative ways of dealing with conflict and caring for nature.
