How hard it must be to hold a conversation, while suffering unimaginable loss and wounding.

Yet conversations – diplomatic negotiations – are the only route to the ending of war. We can practice being a third-party support for communication, instead of ‘picking a side’ in so many conflict situations. Finding the best words to help, asking questions and listening carefully are lifelong skills which must become central to education.

This is a courageous practice which involves finding the words to question different forms of harm: greed, destruction, dehumanising, deceiving, misusing power.
